All hype aside, ‘mindfulness’ simply means paying attention to the present moment. Practising mindfulness can help you to cope with everyday life and deal with tough times. It can also help you to concentrate, relax and be more productive. You can develop mindfulness during regular activities such as when walking, driving or even brushing your teeth. The key is to try and focus only on the present moment and not pay too much attention to your thoughts about the past or the future. Ask yourself what is happening for you right now. Is your breathing slow or fast? Are you tired? Are you hungry? How do you feel?
